Lake City Bank is pleased to offer a special program designed to reach the Spanish-speaking people in our communities. The program is called Próspero – Spanish for “prosperity.” Lake City Bank is committed to helping provide stability to Spanish-speaking individuals by helping them obtain a working knowledge of the banking system. Through Próspero , the Latino community can realistically envision the “American Dream.”
Lake City Bank and the Próspero Program can help Latinos get the information needed to establish banking accounts, good credit and purchase property. Traditionally, many Latinos come to the United States to work only for brief periods of time and then return home to their families in their native countries. With the help of Lake City Bank, Latinos can receive the information and resources needed to settle in our communities, bring their families here and become positive contributors to our economy and society.
The Próspero Program consists of five 30 minute educational seminars that are given in Spanish to interested Latinos at local community centers, churches or the workplace of consenting employers. Seminar topics include:
- Introduction to Financial Services
- How to write a check in English
- How to establish a credit history
- How to buy a house
- Retirement planning
After the participating individuals have “graduated” from the seminars, they will be able to begin the process of setting up their own accounts and investing their money.
Lake City Bank provides a variety of products and services that fit each individual’s needs. Lake City Bank deposits are insured by the FDIC up to $100,000 regardless of citizenship or residency status.
Upon completing our Próspero Program, we offer our Latino customers specific benefits, such as:
- Complimentary first order of checks
- Assistance in setting up accounts
- Spanish-speaking personal banker
- Translation inserts for checkbook
- Free educational seminars
Lake City Bank is proud of our Próspero Program and the trust it will give the Latino community.
