Scammers Posing as Lake City Bank

Kevin relaxed at his kitchen table, enjoying his morning coffee. The phone rang, and he regarded the unknown number with caution. Having read about phone scams that had been circulating, he decided to proceed carefully.

The voice on the other end claimed to be a representative from Lake City Bank, mentioning suspicious activity on his account. They asked Kevin for his verification code in order to sort everything out and told him he needed to act quickly. Instead of blindly trusting the caller, he decided to verify their identity.

Kevin spoke to a genuine Lake City Bank representative who confirmed his suspicions—the caller had just tried to scam him. Grateful that he hadn’t taken the bait, Kevin thanked the representative and asked what else he could do to protect his personal information.

Kevin’s decision to trust his instincts and exercise caution prevented his from becoming a victim, and transformed a potential disaster into a valuable lesson.

“We will NEVER ask for your verification as we can’t see that information on our system.   Please never give your code to anyone calling claiming to be Lake City Bank.”
