Lake City Bank Supports the Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams
Lake City Bank has partnered with the Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams in a three-year commitment to help the Lilly Center educate students with the ultimate goal of improving the freshwater lakes and streams in Kosciusko County. In supporting the Lilly Center’s activities, the bank was especially interested in helping students increase their water literacy.
This year, the bank helped sponsor the Lilly Center Art Contest, which engages fourth to 12th grade students from across the county to produce original art depicting our local waterways. Winners receive cash prizes, have their work featured in the Lilly Center’s annual art contest calendar and bookmarks, and displayed locally. This year’s contest called for art illustrating lake and stream habitats. Check out all the winners below.
Lake City Bank was pleased to support the Watershed Foundation as it brought the Smithsonian Water/Ways exhibit to Kosciusko County and the North Webster Community Public Library. Our area was selected by Indiana Humanities to host the traveling Smithsonian Institution exhibit as part of their Museum on Main Street initiative that brings quality exhibitions to rural communities, and was the first site the exhibit visited in Indiana.
This world-class exhibit was a salute to the role water plays in our lives and focused on water’s unique cultural, spiritual and social impact on all of us. Local companion exhibits exploring our communities’ water history and current stories, as well as educational materials and fun public programs were included. After its time in Kosciusko County, WaterWays visited five more sites across Indiana.
