Lake City Bank is pleased to announce that the Beaman Home, with Lake City Bank acting as sponsor bank, has received a grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank enabling the Beaman Home to complete its building project and move in to its state-of-the-art shelter and outreach center.

The Beaman Home, opened in 1985, serves families affected by domestic violence and abuse in Kosciusko, Marshall and Fulton counties through shelter and outreach services. Last year, more than 200 victims, 50 percent of them children, received domestic violence services. In addition, Beaman Home educated nearly 1,500 community members, 65 percent of them middle and high school students, about healthy relationships, signs of abuse, and services offered. Lake City Bank, a long-time supporter of the Beaman Home, provided sponsorship for the grant.

“The Beaman Home and the community have worked very hard to make this new facility a reality,” said Ralph Villalon, Assistant Vice President and Community Development Outreach Officer. “We were happy to be part of the effort.”

The Beaman Home’s new facility can house up to 38 people in a secure environment. In addition to the shelter, the Beaman Home operates a 24-hour hotline for victims of domestic abuse and violence, provides outreach services for those still with their abuser, as well as support for survivors rebuilding their lives through advocacy and case management.

“Moving into our new facility is the realization of a long-term goal that will enable us to help more families escape the cycle of abuse and domestic violence,” said Tracie Hodson, Executive Director. “Lake City Bank has been a big part of helping us accomplish our goal.”
