Stronger Together

As Lake City Bank marks its 150th year, its commitment to people hasn’t wavered. Coming on the heels of a global pandemic, it would have been easy to lose focus. Stay-at-home orders, historically low interest rates, a national coin shortage, and a nationwide reckoning with race inequality have made navigating the landscape more complex than ever. Even so, Lake City Bank recognizes that customers, employees and community members are stronger together.

In 2020, the bank added Inclusivity to its core values and formed a Diversity and Inclusion Task Force to develop and promote new programs. At its 150-year mark, 84 percent of bank employees identified as women or people of color.

Personal commitment starts at the highest level. President and CEO David Findlay delivers gifts for milestone work anniversaries in person, and he recognizes achievements with hand-written personal comments.

The bank continues to open offices that make it easier for customers to do business. While other banks closed offices or left markets, Lake City Bank came out of the pandemic with two more branches than it had at the start. In April 2023, the 53rd office opened at 16 Tech Indianapolis.

Fort Wayne Day of CaringLake City Bank gives each community the same high level of commitment. From towns like Milford to the state capital of Indianapolis, decisions are made by local people who understand local needs. Inside and outside its walls, Lake City Bank moves into its next phase on a platform of mutual support. In that sense, nothing has really changed.

“As a society, we must insist on empathy and respect for human dignity for all. This is not debatable.”
David Findlay
